"If Hannah's Mom can take us, my Mom can pick us up".   Paving the way for a post-midnight parent car pool pays it forward for our children.

My last post was about my daughter's Prom night.  Oh the excitement of parties.  Even Erich and I like getting dressed up for a night on the town.  These days, knowing who the designated driver is applies to all ages with no exceptions and car pooling is a fantastic way to keep kids safe, save gas and even pay it forward.  See this terrific article on "Green Proms".

Young drivers out on Friday night....at the Prom, or the movie or the party...and then driving home after midnight is a tough combination.  My Dad used to say, "Nothing good happens after midnight".   Gosh I remember that....every single time I wanted to stay out late and drive home with my date or with friends he would ask so many questions about where I would be, who I'd be with and when I would be home.  My curfew was midnight.  

Car Pool Date Night

This weekend, kids got together and drove to the Prom in limos, with other friends or with parents of friends.  Yes, there were car-pooling dates, and I decided to help out with the driving.  There aren't many parents who like to do the "late shift" of teen pick-up and home delivery.  Lets face it, we don't even like to pick-up our own pizza!  But.....

Erich and I volunteered to be the Late Night drivers this year and give kids a ride home from the Prom.  

It's after midnight...and, because my Dad knew best, Erich and I paid it forward and signed up for "pickup" duty after the prom for our kids who needed rides.   

When I sent Julia a text to see how the prom was going, she said "It's a blast!"   Perfect.  Have fun, I'll see you at midnight.    Mom & Dad

Caroline, you know we are on the same page....that it what I believe in too, carpools! I also don't let young drivers drive with friends, this way no showing off, or distractions.

It was a heck of a game last night. I thought for sure Memphis had it in the bag. Then it tnuerd out they couldn't make free throws to save their lives.That 3 pointer at the end of regulation was crazy.
