Wisteria Blooms

Wisteria blooms in my West Linn Oregon backyard

I don't seem to recall this wisteria blooming this much last year, so hoping it's due to the new irrigation system we installed, so it received lots of good water during our usually drought summer months

I've always loved looking at wisterias in the gardening books and magazines, so when we were buying this house, I was excited to see it had a nice strong vine.

When we bought our home this vine had been left on its own for quite a while, so it was actually coming up through the top deck of three levels and almost touching the bedroom doors. So after a really good cut back, a wood beam added to have it grow on that instead of reaching towards the house, and this year we were rewarded nicely!

What comes to mind immediately is Wisteria Lane from Desperate Housewives, so now I can see for what it was named. Beautiful!

Hi Elizabeth, thanks for stopping by! One of the things about buying a house with an established garden..is that often times they were not planted in the correct spot or too close to the house not thinking how big they will eventually get. We still have some work taming this baby..but I do get to enjoy her blooms.

Hi Cindy,

What a spectacular wisteria! We planted one a couple of years ago and there are a few buds just beginning to show. Looks like your Spring is ahead of ours over here. Have a great Monday!
