Life's Journey

Some people keep journals, my life is cataloged in photographs. I see and feel in pictures. I never buy souvenirs from my travels; material things don't bring me back to the special places I have visited - those memories are locked in my heart and captured in my photographs.

When I view my photos, I realize there is one constant thing: change.  It's neither good, nor bad, it just is. I find the most beautiful things are those of simplicity, things most people walk by without ever seeing.

I don't look to the past to predict my future as my life has taken so many winding roads, hills and valleys - I've experienced the full spectrum of life's emotions from blissful joy to the depths of despair, but as I reflect on my past I wouldn't change a thing. Each experience has taught me a little more about myself, compassion towards others and renewed my faith that I am right where I am supposed to be.

Kristine, "my life is cataloged in photographs."   Those beautiful photographs depict the beauty of the life that you have lived. It's the simple things in life that make it precious. Stopping to smell the roses gives us an opportunity to enjoy life and what it has to offer. A positive mental attitude can go a long way to enriching life. Keep that smile on your face.         I suggested.

Hi Kristine,

I am clicking suggest because there are so many people who need to be reminded about the beautiful message you conveyed. Life offers us lots of beauty and it's those memories and life-time experiences that changes our worldly view about people and places. Your collage is just perfect. you've developed a benevolent world view through pictures and through these photos, it shows that you look for the good in the people and the circumstances around you.

That's a pleasing to the eye collage, Kristine!  I seem to define life's moments in photos rather than words too.  Although in the last couple years, I've began to put words with the photos in my blogs.

Kristine ~ Are you sure we weren't conjoined twins... separated at birth?  I felt like I was reading something I had penned in my one of my own posts.  I'm definitely not a souvenir girl... and, I too, have experienced lots of twists and turns in life, with a the gamut of emotions... wouldn't trade my experiences for anything.  It has shaped who I am and I'm feeling pretty good in this skin ;)  Lovely post Kristine!

Kristine, your pictures are breathtaking, each and every one of them. I love to take pictures, wish I had started earlier in life, ah well...

And your words cut right to the heart of things. I wish I had a profound remark here, but you rather said it all.

Kristine, I do both...photos and journals! Each kids has a calendar with something written for each day in the first year of their life. Then I started a journal writting every 3-6 months of whats changed in our lives. My favorite part is that I put a section called "look who's talking" and put things we've all said. That is the funniest thing I look back on.

I am always amazed at how some folks (like you)  seem to take great pictures so easily - while I struggle with basic house shots!  And I love that bottom shot...so inviting those sail boats!
