A Year of Growing Rich:  Be Optimisic

This is the 30th week of a 52 week motivational journey and I want to invite you along.  Each week, I will touch on one of the chapters from Napoleon Hill's book titled  A Year of Growing Rich and subtitled "52 Steps to Achieving Life's Rewards."

If you would like you can pick up a new or used copy from Amazon for as low as a few cents  -- a great investment in your future.  Previous posts in this series can be accessed by clicking here.

We often describe people as being optimistic or pessimistic. And have you noticed that successful people are usually optimistic.

"You can learn to practice the habit of optimism and thereby greatly enhance your chances of achieving success. Or you can drive yourself into the pit of pessimism and failure," says Hill.

Optimism is a major personality trait and it is important for you to cultivate it.

"Instead of worrying about the bad things that might befall you, spend a few minutes every day enumerating the pleasant events that will happen tomorrow, next week, next month, next year! By thinking about them, you will find yourself laying plans to make them happen! By doing so, you are getting in the habit of optimism," says Hill.

Hill says, "No great leader or successful person was ever a pessimist".

Hill explains, "Optimism is, in itself, a kind of success, for it means you have a healthy, peaceful and contented mind. An exceedingly wealthy person can be a failure physically, if his constant pessimism has given him ulcers".
Hill concludes saying, "Learn to meet the future head-on. Analyze it. Weigh the factors with clear judgment. Then decide upon your course of action to make things turn out the way you want them. You'll find that the future holds nothing you ever need to fear".

Gary this book intrigues me but when in the world does one find time to actually sit and read?  Maybe if I get the book I'll actually MAKE time to read it.  Keep pushing me to just do it.

Q, Little less 'puter time, little more reading time, it can happen to you too.  Gary, I haven't read this one either.  I think because when I read Think and Grow Rich, some of it didn't resonate with me the way other writings do.  It is good stuff but I like, for exampe,  Abraham-Hicks better.

Gary -- my favorite quote from this post -- optimism is in itself a kind of success.  I like that!  Have a great Holiday, Eric

John, The thing that you will like best about this book is that you have an entire year to read it. The book is to be read a chapter each week.  And I will keep pushing everyone to read it.

Marge,  There are so many good books - my favorite thing about this one is the idea of a chapter each week.

Eric, I agree with you.  That is a fantastic concept.  I agree that optimism is a kind of success.  I hope you have a great holiday too.

I was told I was bubbly today. . . I am very optimistic and I believe that all things work out when someone is thinking outside the box and working to solve the problem.  Good post - thanks!
