One Time at Summer Camp...Not to be confused with the American Pie version of that story!  But seriously, one time at Summer Camp I learned how to swim, make my first gimp bracelet, and created memories for life.  There are plenty of interesting camps about town in Philadelphia. If it's a skill that your child wants to cultivate or something that just sounds like fun, there are programs for just about every personality type, at every price point. Check out some of the options that stood out to us:

For a Creative Edge in Fairmount...

"Theme-based studio experiences in both 2 & 3-D media balanced with trips to the art museum, art in the park, weekly special guest/event, Friday feasts, playground time, art scavenger hunts, and more." The Fairmount Arts Center offers art camp sessions all summer long, with 4-day camps running June 13 through September 2nd. Ages 4 - 12. Week-long, full-day camp: 9:00am-3:00pm - $385. Week-long half-day camp: 9:00am-Noon - $250.

Make em say Ommmm instead of Mommmm in Northern Liberties...

"Daily, positive, theme-focused yoga classes".  Healthy allergen-free snacks and their own yoga mat to keep, in a non-competitive environment could be a nice, refreshing change from the pressure-filled school year.  Kids Yoga Camp at Sankhya Yoga Ages 4 - 10. July through August, Mon-Fri, 9 - 12pm. $550.

Get their hands dirty in Old City...

"CLAY CAMP! Campers learn new skills, develop their creativity, gain confidence, and create unique pieces of art that can be used for years to come." The Clay Studio in Old City will hold Summer Clay Camp sessions throughout the summer, from June 20 to August 19. Ages 6 - 12. From $175.

Poolside at Portside...

The Portside Arts Center promises flexible dates and a diverse Summer Camp Program with "crafts, painting, drawing, drama and music coupled with math a science programs instructed by teaching artists, counselors and Jr. Counselors." You can check out the monthly schedule that lists the activities, which include Friday morning pooltime,  "Techy Time", and the Morning Stretch. Ages 5 - 12. From $25.

Summer for the Science Buff...

Science in the Summer is a program that will offer Genetics instruction in the Philadelphia area. The two-day Saturday programs are for 2nd through 6th grade students and are free if you register and are accepted - space is limited!
