Kevin McHugh, PhD appointed Superintendent of Pennsbury School District. The Pennsbury School Board appointed Kevin McHugh, PHD Superintendent of the School District at a special school board meeting on May 19, 2011. Dr McHugh will succeed Paul Long, ED. PhD, who announced his retirement in January of this year. Dr. McHugh will take the reins at Pennsbury School District effective July 1, 2011.
Dr. McHugh currently serves as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for Pennsbury. During his tenure as Principal of Pennwood Middle School, Dr. McHugh was awarded the prestigious Principal of the Year Award by the National Association of Secondary School Principals in 2002.
Dr. McHugh's education includes Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Music Education from Temple University. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Education from Lehigh University. Prior to coming to Pennsbury, Dr. McHugh held teaching and administrative positions in the Methacton, Lower Moreland and Wallingford-Swarthmore School Districts.
