In our Delaware Valley area where we have three of the best hospitals for children in the Country (perhaps the World), miracles of life are witnessed and celebrated daily...!!!

Children's Hospital (CHOP), Saint Christophers, and Nemours (DUPONT) enable incredible lives to be transformed by applying the latest technologies and techniques for the primary benefit of children.......And BTW, these renown institutions of healing don't forget you once you've grown up...We know a wonderful young lady, who at thirty one continues to receive the latest and best treatment for her condition(s)...!!!

Yet, although many of these wonderful stories slip through the cracks and go unnoticed, every once in a while a story presents itself that you feel just needs to be told and retold. Our Southeastern Pennsylvania area is replete with stories such as these, but many remain untold and uncirculated...!!!

That aside, permit me to share such a story, a short snippet, about a young baseball player in our area known as MAV...!!!

A PRAYER FOR MAVRIK...

Those who know six-year-old Mavrik Laxton, all agree - they don't come much cuter!  Half the size of most kids his age, Mav has already had six open heart surgeries and was forced to cut his DBYS baseball season short (as a star with the Rookie Phillies and his Buddy Ball team) for yet another surgery!

Mavrik's last games for both his Rookie and Buddy Ball teams were yesterday!  After his Rookie game, Mav's Phillies team presented him with a baseball and team shirt - both signed by all of the coaches and his teammates!  He was admitted to the hospital today to prepare for a valve replacement surgery on Thursday morning.  According to Mav's mom Kim  - he proudly wore his signed team shirt to the hospital -  and the big smile he had since receiving it never left his face!  (Check out the picture below)

For those of you who don't know Mavrik Laxton, his life story is not focused on how sick he's been or what he's been through!  Mav's story is about his bravery and strength - and what a story he can tell!

So, on behalf of DBYS and Mav's Coaches and teammates - we ask everyone to keep him in their thoughts (and prayers) as he bravely goes through this next surgery!  Like the trooper he always is, we expect him back on his feet and at the ballfield again real soon!

Go get 'em Mav!

Camille Hayes

Truth be told, stories like this need to be repeated and told for the Good News they are...!!!

Let us join with his family and friends in keeping Mav in our prayers and thoughts for a quick, complete, and speedy recovery...!!!
