"Can you show me property this Saturday?" asks a regular client of mine.
"Hold on, let me check my schedule... sure what time Saturday?"
"Around 3:00 p.m.?"
"Sure that works for me... I'll meet you at the first property at 3:00, and we'll go onward from there."
That's the kind of conversation I have regularly with buyers. I also work on Sunday and every day of the week that ends in a "y".
There are many agents who say that we should set client's expectations. Some don't work on weekends at all. (although I can't imagine how they manage not to work on Saturday and Sunday in this business. That's prime-time for me, that's when my buyers and sellers, who have regular Monday - Friday 9:00-5:00 jobs, are available.)
Me? I'll be your seven day fool! I work every day of the week. I'm one of those who believes in making hay when the sun shines. And for those of you who don't know that phrase (really, there are some who don't know what that means?) it means You work, when the work is available. 'Cause if you don't show them property on Saturday, I gaar-ahhn-teee that there's someone out there, like me, who will.
Does that mean you have to work seven days a week? No, of course not ... I often have a weekday that's a little light. Take a day like that and go to the golf course, or the mall. And I always schedule my family events into my smart phone as "appointments". Clients don't mind it when you have other committments, but they like to think it's other business... not personal.
You set your own schedule. But in this market, I believe that it's foolish to turn away business... and I want it to be as convenient as possible for my clients.
