Your Driving Needs and What They Cost
The rising cost of gas has made us all rethink the way we do business, the way we commute and the way we get our errands and daily activities done. It is also becoming a determining factor in choosing a neighborhood and location to live.
As realtors we spend a goodly percentage of our time in our cars, showing properties and with gas prices hovering just under $4.00 a gallon we're looking for ways to conserve and cut costs. Even perspective home buyers are focused on cutting down their commuting costs and are choosing homes closer to work and/or public transportation.
But, before we can cut down on prices we need to first know what it actually costs us to get from point A to point B. Cost2Drive.com is a great site designed as a commuter calculator to help you estimate your driving costs. By plugging in the addresses of your start and end travel points, and the year and make of your car it will determine the approximate cost to get there, your travel time and how big the carbon footprint of your route is. It uses the price per gallon cost of the most reasonably priced gas station in the vacinity and will give you both the address for this and the current gas price at this station. Also, if you're planning a longer trip, you can compare the costs of flying vs. drivingat this site too.
So whether you're a homebuyer, real estate professional or just anyone worried about gas prices, you might just want to check out Cost2Drive and see how you can make a dent in your budget.
If you're considering a move to a commuter friendly location, give me a call and I'll be happy to help you find that perfect commuter friendly home in Suffern NY or anyplace nearby.
