Wow, I just had to write about this. Tonight and late afternoon on day 1 of our Rain Camp has been a hit and a miss!
The HIT is Rain Camp! It has been wonderful getting to see old AR friends and meeting so many new talents all in one! I made this trip at the spur of the moment knowing I would get to meet so many new faces. I simply never regret my decision to be here. YOU MUST JOIN NEXT TIME!
I have been able to meet a few people that I knew so well on-line that I would have recognized them in a local grocery store! Seriously! I am assuming I will miss many names here but it's only because I have a great memory! Problem is...it's short. The memory that is...(laugh) Bob Stewart (woodie hoo), Brad Andersohn, Greg Nino, Steve Shatsky, Gary Woltal, John Cannata, Marvin Bradshaw, Tom Burris, Tom Branch and of course Nicki,
The one and only Kerrie Greenhalgh...even more lovely than her pictures and always here for us...Joni Staples, Loreena Yeo, Donna Harris ....,Amanda Durbin Hall, and so many others my mind is spinning!
The MISS (thank heavens) is the tornado! I bowed out on the late night get together because I was (and am) running on so little sleep I may snooze any second. And, because Dallas is under so many Tornado Warnings and Watches. The Warnings mean they can happen! Yikes! The Watches (which are what we are under means to...HIDE IN THE BATHROOM BECAUSE IT'S COMING!) AND IT CAME. I was sitting blissfully in the bath in steamy hot water when the siren for HIDE IN THE BATHROOM BECAUSE IT'S COMING began to sound. I decided I would blow away gracefully in the tub since I was in the right place at the wrong time! And, I had a great day so it was all going to be okay.
But, the wind was thrashing, the trees were bending, the rain was pounding, lightening struck all around us, the hail was pounding, and was at least golf ball sized and quite honestly...I was scared.
Mother Nature was not happy that we had such a great day! Or maybe it's just the name? RAIN CAMP??? Scary!
Missy Caulk and Christa Caulk Stewart were both kindly notified on FaceBook today by me that the storms were coming. I got a bit of hassling from Bob Stewart, husband of Christa, daughter of Missy for alerting them. Missy is that a longtail?
Anyway, Bob said he would hide in the basement! (I am laughing uncontrollably) If you are from Texas then you know good and well there are no basements that wouldn't flood away here in Texas! The look on his face was puzzled. I wish I had a picture of that!
There will be many pictures coming soon of our adventure at Dallas Rain Camp but I just wanted to report in and let you all know that we are okay. We made it through and will be there bright and early in the morning for day 2.
What will tomorrow bring?
Hopefully sunny weather and more friends to visit! Have a great day and we wish you were here!
