The Veterans Freedom Park in Cary NC is located at the corner of Cary Parkway and North Harrison Avenue, on the north side of Cary. It was dedicated July 1, 2003, but has not been completed to date. I rather like it as a quiet place, as it is, for reflection. With the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend, taking at least a little time to appreciate what others have done for us is the right thing to do.
The lush grounds of the park, and the size of 11 acres help the visitor focus on quiet and peace, rather than the busy N Harrison Avenue thoroughfare. That removal from the daily hubbub seems fitting, in accordance with appreciation and remembrance of the sacrifices made by so many.
Veterans Freedom Park has been spurred by commitment of SAS Institute to donate the 11 acres to the National Veterans Freedom Park Foundation and to pay to install a 120 foot granite spire memorial, in addition to the existing monuments.
