I like this writer.... this book was a touch different than his usual books. It centers upon a Behaviorist who has lost her position with the Las Vegas Police Force by being drunk on the job (after losing husband), and who continues to be drug dependent as the book progresses with mind numbing medicines of all kinds.... Since I don't believe in taking drugs, it was a reach for me to sympathize with the heroine to some extent but still, good, fast reading. Obviously, she realizes that she functions better without the pills before the end of the book... and so that is the motto and message...... her side-kick is a high functioning autistic savant who also happens to be the Police Chief's son, and between them they are able to save the day and many lives....... Still good, fast reading... It was published in 2007.
