There is Adopt-A-Highway and there is also Adopt-A-Beach.  Groups and individuals can volunteer their time to help keep a portion of the New Jersey shoreline clean from trash and debris much like the Adopt-A-Highway works for roads and highways.

What is required is the desire to volunteer in such a manor and the ability to commit to a one year stretch of volunteer time with two days during the year, one in April and one in October, as days that all volunteers are out and about on their adopted beach to do an enforce clean up.  The rest of the year volunteers are on their own schedule.

If you have an interest in adopting a stretch of beach at the New Jersey shore please read more on this New Jersey Website.

Hi Gloria~ I trust your vacation to the Jersey Shore is filled with sunlight, sand and relaxing moments. I can't wait to see pictures of your trip!

Last time I was in Cape May, or anywhere in Jersey for that matter was almost thirty years ago! Time flies (that's almost scary!) ... I loved the homes along the waterfront with widow towers, the true boardwalk with salt water taffy, gift shops and arcades, and the beautiful beach!

Gloria - If more people ceaned up after themselves instead of relying on others and the tide, the beach would be a healthier place. Great program!
