(Not So) Wordless Wednesday - The Secret Garden

By

The Secret Garden

My son's field trip continued to Williamsburg after we left Jamestown, Virginia. When I came across this gate leading to the Governor's Palace, one of my favorite childhood books came instantly to my mind - The Secret Garden.

Although the garden in the book was neglected, contrary to the manicured grounds surrounding the Governor's Palace, I felt the same sense of mystery, when I looked at the closed gate leading to the garden.

Elizabeth, this evokes so many wonderful feelings for me! Hmmmm...lemme see if I can find something to share with YOU.

This one reminds me of the Sound of Music! It is in Sequim, WA...they call it the Florida of the Pacific Northwest, if I recall.

This is a very pretty picture, Elizabeth. Thank you.  All the greens.  I can almost feel and smell the air in the park. It looks and feels a little humid?  Perhaps it's an illusion, or an old memory buried by time but surfacing upon seeing your lovely photograph.  Have I been there before? I haven't.  But close. It looks European to me.

Will we get to see what's inside the gates soon?  Or shall I just imagine? I'm happy either way.

What would you do if you followed your heart? Be a photographer? A writer? A librarian? A veterinarian for PWD? I hope you'll say. You've been cryptic.

Hi Elizabeth,

What a pretty picture.  Love the gate itself and all the textures and shades of green in the photo.

Lloyd - it was hot and humid day, the temperature over 90 degrees. You are right about European influence, particulary English. The gardens comprise of 90 acres and are a mixture of formal and infomal spaces.

Good guesses regarding jobs that have been occupying my mind. I have just started taking photos but I've already love photography. I also love history, arts, reading, and writing. Since English is my second language, writing is still challenging for me, but I enjoy it anyway. Being a writer is my dream job, however, I have lots of work to do before this option becomes viable.

That photo is truly amazing! I could see that photo hanging up on a wall. It's very inspirational even without any words. I loved the movie too.

I once sold a house with a secret garden, Elizabeth. As soon as I looked at their back yard-that became the tagline for my ads for the house. It was also neat and tidy but so wonderful.
