Oh Crap!!!... I'm Ranked Number What?

Today as I type this Blog I am ranked on AR as the Wikipedia defined "Number of the Beast".

It got me thinking about how our clients can be superstitious about homes in relation to numbers.

How do numbers effect the purchase of a home to your clients?

I have heard tons of stories about clients wanting their home with as many "8's" in the number as possible. In Chinese numerology the number eight is very lucky and regarded as prosperous. I have never had clients that have been very superstitious about numbers but have heard many stories about clients who insist on writing an offer with a certain sequence of numbers in the price. Their motivation can be religiously based, superstitiously based or just a personal preference.

After I post this blog I will no longer have the honor of being #666, but I'm glad it got me thinking about the reality of how numbers can effect our clients decisions. What stories do you have about this phenomenon?

This is funny.  I am not superstitious and do not freak out over numbers unless they have a negative in front of them and is in my bank account.  But if it does affect a client's psychology, I would change it to whatever makes them happier as long as it isn't something that could affect us negatively as far as a non-sale. :)

SO TRUE!

I hear things like "oh I like this address or I like this payment or ??? if it strikes a chord with the buyer/borrower for something they like or had a favorable experience with in the past.

Nice to see you are not the Anti-Christ now.

Traci - how funny! Yes, buyers analyze numbers more often than you might think. Keep blogging, you can slide down as easily as you can rise up.

Traci, one agent in my area has had to go to the city to get the address changed for a buyer who really liked the house but it didn't have a certain number in the address.  I guess you gotta do what you can to get a listing sold.

With everything we are facing on the housing market today, do we really need to be worrying about the numbers in the address! Just sayin'.

This superstitious numerology has been in our culture for quite time. Think of all those hotels with no 13th floor, especially in Las Vegas.

Traci,

I'm glad you are past that number now.  I'm not superstitious about bad numbers so much as I am superstitious about good numbers.  If the number is right I know everything is going to be good.
