EYE ON THE BAY - CITY OF ALAMEDA ON CAMERA

EYE ON THE BAY - CITY OF ALAMEDA ON CAMERA. Last Thursday a local CBS (KPIX) affiliate broadcasted a program all about my city, Alameda.  It was very good and entertaining and packed with a lot of information about Alameda in a half hour show.

One of the main areas the show visited is the downtown area, Park Street.  The host, Brian Hackney, spoke with the Alameda Park Street Business Association executive director, Robb Ratto places to see and things to do in Alameda

They visited the renovated Historic Alameda Theater, local restaurants and Toy Safari, an unique toy store.

The show moved to the west end of the island to Webster Street another business district in Alameda.   They visited the Pinball Museum, more restaurants, the U.S.S. Hornet, a World War II aircraft carrier, the Webster and Posey Tubes and a business on the Robert Crown Memorial Beach which rents windsurfing boards.

Evelyn, It sounds like it really was a good program. It's nice when they take the time to really show you what's out there.

They did do a good job.  I am a member of the Park Street Business Association Board of Directors.  Robb Ratto, our executive director, told us he though he would be with the TV crew for a couple of hours.  He as actually with them all day.  He said they were the nicest, easy going TV guys he has met.  Of course, Robb Ratto makes friends easily and is gregarious, just the kind of person TV folk like to deal with.  I am glad you enjoyed the program and thank you for commenting.  I appreciate your taking the time to reply to my blog.

What a great story on Alameda!  I've been there for work a few times and always tell myself "I'll be back" because it so quaint... but, then, life takes over and I forget to go back!  I really need to put this in my calendar... thanks, Evelyn - for the reminder...

Evelyn, who would have thought there was a pinball museum?     There are many fans, as I see pinball machines in some basements while showing!

I thought the same thing.  A pinball museum in Alameda?  But it is a cool place, even for a non-player.

Evelyn - It's always great to have your area showcased in the media. Can you send me one of those pinball machines? :-)

Groupon just had a deal on the pinball museum, did you see it? I plan to go, OH, and I love the toy store and shop there for my nephew and niece.

Yes, I saw it.  I bought two tickets for my husband and daughter.  They still haven't gone yet.  But my husband visited the pinball business at its last location in Alameda. He loved it.  Toy Safari is really fun.  I love just looking at the all the stuff she has there.  My office is not far from the store.  My office is on Park Avenue and Central Avenue.  We're a block from Starbucks and Peets.  Hope you enjoy your Memorial Day holiday.

I'm hoping that the Pinball Museum is an interactive museum. That would be fun!
