Wordless Wednesday - San Diego's Beautiful Plants
Whenever I start to work with a San Diego home buyer who is relocating from a different part of the county or, from another county, I am often asked about what types of plants they can grow here. Because of our ideal weather a better question is probably "What kinds of plants don't grow in San Diego?" In the coastal areas we almost never get frost and it is never "too hot". So, prep the soil, add water and voila, a gorgeous flower or vegetable garden can be yours! We just planted some artichoke plants and I am shocked how fast they are growing. Anything that flowers, especially tropical looking plants and trees, do really well here.
Following is a gorgeous Flame Coral Tree. On of the many reasons I love spring is because they are blooming all over San Diego right now. I took this photo in Point Loma.
This picture is a Bird of Paradise. I was showing homes in La Jolla Shores and they have a grove of these beautiful plants right by the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. Bird of Paradise are hardy and grow very easily. I have one that is doing quite well even though I don't have that great of a green thumb.
