Homes for sale in the Midtown Terrace neighborhood of San Francisco, CA are a popular choice with many San Francisco buyers. The Midtown Terrace neighborhood is in the central section of San Francisco, on the back side of Twin Peaks. It is part of district 4 if you happen to be looking at a San Francisco Association of Realtors MLS map.

The neighborhood was built as a planned community back in the 1950s, so it has a much more suburban feel than many San Francisco neighborhoods. It consists entirely of detached single family homes. The neighborhood was also very much built around the belief that cars are the ideal and primary form of transit. If biking or walking to work is your idea of transit, then you probably won’t place Midtown Terrace the top of the list of your neighborhood choices.

The neighborhood is also in the shadow of Sutro Tower, so if you have health concerns about electromagnetic radiation or other radio tower concerns, it also might not be your first choice.

The homes are relatively large by San Francisco standards, and it is pretty common for homes in Midtown Terrace to have three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a garage with room for one car and often two. It also isn’t uncommon to see “in-law” aka “unwarranted” aka “done without permit” rooms at the back of the garage area.

The area is very popular with people looking for an admissions advantage at the highly competitive public Clarendon Elementary school, which does assign a slight preference to applicants in the geographic area surrounding the school. There is also an excellent playground at the base of the neighborhood, the not-surprisingly-named Midtown Terrace playground.

Depending on where the home is in the neighborhood, it may have an excellent view of the Pacific Ocean.
