QR Codes - Not so much of a fad now - Read Why

Services for Real Estate Pros with D3 Interactive Marketing

You have heard the hype.  "QR Codes will revolutionize Real Estate."

You heard the naysayers.  "Dagnabit new stuff.  Never work.  Nobody will do it.  We still use a rotary dial phone and a horse and buggy around here."

Okay maybe they didn't quite say it that way, but it was what I heard as soon as they started talking.

So what is this news that is so important?

The US Postal Service is embracing, nay, encouraging the use of QR Codes.  What?  This is the same post office that hasn't changed since they got off of their horses and started using cars.  The same post office that wears wool shorts in the summer time with knee socks.  The same post office loses Eleventy Bajillion dollars an hour because they are so behind the times.

You got it.  Those guys.  Though I am not sure about the statistics on the amount they lose per hour are 100% correct.

The post office is encouraging direct mailers to use QR Codes to make their mailing smaller but still deliver the same punch.  They are going so far as to offer a discount on mailings when those mailings are smaller and using QR Codes.

You don't have to believe me, here it is in writing: http://www.prc.gov/docs/72/72926/Order_No_731.pdf

Need to create a QR Code and don't know how?  Go "LIKE" my facebook page and you will find a free QR Code creator.

So there you have it.  The most technologically backward organization in the history of technologically backward organizations run by the US Government for that matter, embraces and encourages the use of QR Codes.  So the water is wonderful, jump on in.

It is good to see the Postal Service is on board with the latest for a change I guess they finally realize they must change with the times.

Thanks for the comments everybody.  I have seen other industries start to embrace the tech, but nowhere near as frequently as realtors.

Chris, If the USPS is going to start using QR codes they must be out of date already.  Sorry , just a little postal  humor.  Maybe they are getting something right for a change.

Chris, very interesting... many predicted that QR Codes would go the way of Text To:  Sign Riders.
