Immerse yourself in this scenario having lost a document, a draft blog post or all of a sudden your computer MASSIVELY dies. They all die all around you, and WHAT do you do? Seriously immerse yourself into that picture. OK, Best Buy gets everyone to go out and buy a new computer. BUT seriously you have to be so stressed out if you can't recover your work, PDF files, templates, photos, etc. OK let us use our brain here so NOT to panic. Tips to stay out of these weeds.
Long Word documents/blog posts - save under ANOTHER file name along the way to not lose all your work
External saving - use a memory stick or external hard drive to offload files
Online backup - a bunch of resources
- Evernote $5/month for computer, iPhone, Android
- Dropbox creates a 2GB free folder on your desktop linked to online
- MobileMe storage $99/yr for Mac users
OK, call to action..... at least pick SOMETHING off this list to not ever be in this panic mode. Many real estate offices are going paperless with contracts uploaded to a central network server which is backed up nightly. But your life is more than real estate. Do some backup for YOU. REGULARLY!!!
