***UPDATE***

With the release of the latest iPhone update, users can now place websites as icons on their iPhones home screen (essentially a shortcut). Here at HouseFront we have added an icon to our shortcut, so placing the HouseFront iPhone widget on your desktop will display our HouseFront logo. Seen here: House Values

Give it a try add HouseFront to your phones home screen.

It has been a few months now since the launch of the much-hyped iPhone, and since then there has been a fury of iPhone widgets hitting the net. Using the Safari browser is the only way to get third party applications to the phone (as of right now). The iPhone’s web browser (Safari) is capable of viewing the complete web, no mobile version required, but what users are learning is that with only a 3.5-inch diagonal screen not all websites fit satisfactory and are clumsy to navigate. This has led many websites to create “iPhone friendly” sites, mini portals that fit within the screens boundaries and allow quicker access to information.

Continuing our support for all things Apple, the HouseFront team has just released the very first real estate search widget for the iPhone. Pointing your iPhone Safari browser to http://www.HouseFront.com/widgets/iPhone will bring up an easy to use search portal. Enter in any address and within seconds you’re provided information on the home, such as estimated value, bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage and more. The search also reveals the location of the home through an aerial photo provided by Google maps.

The widget also features send to cell, allowing you to send the property information to any friend that isn’t as lucky as you are to have an iPhone, through text messaging. If you’re interested in the property you may also click on the more details link sending your phone to the full HouseFront website where you can gather more information about the property.

With HouseFront’s text messaging feature (Text any address to ‘HOUSE’ or 46873) and now the iPhone widget, users and professionals alike have multiple ways to access valuable home information quickly and on the go.

Any iPhone users out there give the widget a try and let us know what you think, and if you don’t have an iPhone try our text messaging feature and let us know what you think too.

I just got the iPhone as a gift.  So far I love it.  I don't know how to add the widget to my phone tho.  Do I just bookmark the page and it saves to my safari bookmarks on the phone?  Or is there an actual widget that is down-loadable?

It's unfortunate that most RE web sites are not compatible with Mac/Safari and are PC based.  Hopefully soon there will be more carryover.

Jeremy -Good to hear you like your iPhone, I dont know how I'd live without mine.  Currently the only thing you can do is save it to your bookmarks, Apple does not allow actual applications to be made for its phone; as of right now, that may be changing soon though.

And it really is to bad other RE sites dont support Apple users better.  We've always had support at HouseFront.com for the Safari browser and Mac operating system from day 1.

Joe - The iPhone is a big hit...why dont you have yours yet!?  The phone will only get better as time goes on and Apple improves its features and software.  Because the iPhone is more like a "mini" computer with software updates it is less likely to be outdated as fast as normal phones are these days.

The site works great on the iPhone. Not sure what I think of the valuation, but the display on the phone works great.

Steve ~ Good to hear you like our iPhone widget.  Our valuations can vary depending on the market you are in, some are dead accurate while others can be off.  But it does help give you a sense for the homes worth, more information is always better than less (in my opinion).
