"New Urbanism" what is it?

This is a new approach to community living and there are several areas on the cutting edge.

Old Trail is one such area. Located just outside of Charlottesville Virginia along the Blue Ridge Mountains in the small town of Crozet. This is just a wonderful area.

Old Trail Village is a mix of townhomes, signal family homes, shops and golf!

It is still in development and is very exciting.

This "new urbanism, is a life changing idea (from the past) coming back into fad. Walk to the store, less cars, less smog a slower pace of life. There are 6 miles of walking trails, open fields and beautiful views!

This is a healthy lifestyle change for many. I have sold several homes and townhomes in Old Trail and am under construction with clients as I type this message.

Charles great post about Old Trail, it is a great area and you know how to present it!

PEG - Old Trail is a great area I enjoy it and have even invested in it.

MISSY - You are clever, you figured out where I walked my clients! lol

I love the front porches!! We do not have a lot of those here. What prices are the two shown in the pictures?

I think it's a fantastic idea! In fact, here in Southington, CT, we are seeing a redevelopment of the downtown real estate market. With 240 townhomes and retail space, along with walking trails, parks, and a river walk, this is exactly what the town needs. It's a wonderful concept and certainly a return to old roots.

Charles, we are beginning to get these developments all over the place. Actually, some of them are already 10 or so years old. They really "take you back" to a beautiful period in time that was almost lost, Karen

SHERRI - The top home sold last year at 485K, The 2 on the bottom are currently listed at 499K and 599K. These photos can be deciving, the 599K has 3,514 finished and 576 unfinished square feet. How does that compare with Texas?

MICHAEL - it is a return to old roots and I think it is fantastic!

KAREN - Fantastic, keep your walking shoes in the car at all times!!! lol :-)

This 'new urbanism' is taking off throughout Florida, from the Panhandle to the Orlando area and in the Channelside of downtown Tampa - it is long overdue - connecting the community together the way it was for our grandparents!

I love these older looking homes.

BARBARA JO and BILL - It become just a more peaceful way of life!

VICKI - I like them to, they remind me of older homes, but have new ammenities!
