It isn't often I get to participate in distributing more than $106,000, but I did this evening.
It was the 4th Annual Barnegat High School Scholarship Awards Ceremony. More than 50 Barnegat and southern Ocean County organizations came together to honor graduating high school seniors and give them a financial boost in their advanced studies.
I attended for the Friends of the Library (FOL), presenting the Barnegat FOL $500 scholarship. I like giving away money!
Laura-what a nice worthy cause, I'm sure the kids that received it were delighted.
I gave away some scholarship money a few years ago at Highland Park High School. Make sure you get press releases out all over. Free way to get your name in the paper!
Laura...what a neat experience for you AND the graduating seniors. consider the tip that the gentleman from RE/MAX suggested. There are times when 'blowing one's own horn' can be a good thing. Consider it.
Hope that you have a great Friday & Memorial Day Weekend, too.
Barb
Laura - that must have been so exciting to give away scholarship money to Barnegat High School students - what an honor and wonderful event!
Laura: What fun! I bet you were just as excited as the kids. I disagree with the gentlemen from RE/MAX. Since you were representing the group, I think any press release should be the kids, and the FOL. Just my 2 cents.
Laura, I have a child (young man as he turned 18 two weeks ago) graduating next week...can you send some cash our way?
This had to be a very rewarding evening. glad you could take advantage of it.
Adrian-It was great fun.
Bruce-I was acting as President of the Barnegat Friends of the Library, and it was the Friends money.
Thanks Barb, enjoy your weekend too.
Kristine-Hard to believe I was ever that young!
Anne-I agree with you.
Steve-You're going to be paying for many years my friend! I love a lot about your son through your blog, and I'm sure he's got his share of scholarships!
William-Not something I thought I'd be doing when I graduated High School decades ago!
Arleen & Tracey-It is great fun!
Laura....how cool. I saw the re-post. What would be even cooler would be to be the one donating the $100,000+ for distribution. Very cool!
