I have been in this hospital for over a month and have at least another 2 weeks after my 3rd operation tomorrow morning.  While here they give me some go go juice and some thing to make you sleep so what follows may or may not be true but I swear it sure seems true to me.

In the deep dark of the morning I awoke to find this beautiful woman in a lacy red gown standing at the foot of my bed. She looked at me and said....................................

I am the Muse of Mortgages and for you to be successful you must do what I say:

+ Always be honest and always do what is best for your client.

+ Always ask for referral business at application.

+ During transaction keep all informed of what is happening every step of the way.  All means all.  Buyers Agent, Listing Agent, Escrow, Processor, Borrower and in some cases Seller.

+ Ask for referrals in the middle of the transaction..

+ Close on time and if you do not tell every one exactly why and do it ASAP.

+ Attend the closing if for no other reason than to thank all for their support in closing the transaction.

+ Ask the listing agent if there is any one else in the office that could use your service.

+ Add everyone to your contact list and manage your list.

I thought " Wow this makes sense to me" and remember back to when my first boss said the secret to being a success in this business is that every time you close a loan, you need to put 2 more into the system!

I can't vouch for any of the above but just thought I would share with you.

I will be off the net for the next 3 or 4 days as they operate on me again tomorrow at 9:45.  This operation will take about 10 hours and will give me the ability to eat again.  It will take about 2 weeks before I can have soups and such and about 3 months before I can have a steak.  Considering that the last real meal I had was a MacDonald's qtr pounder with Cheese on Oct 12th 2006, damn near any thing will taste fantastic.  I have a Treo 650 and in the memo book on my phone I have recopies that I want to try and my menu for the first week I can eat whatever I want.

If you think about it tomorrow please send a thought or prayer my way as they will all be appreciated, needed and cherished.  Please Pray for my wife as this is much harder on her than on me.

Good Luck, Good Lending and Aloha

Bruce I definitely agree. Communication and doing what you say you're going to do is extremely important. I think a great point you mentioned twice is to ask for referrals. I've heard that this goes a long way and is only effective if you do it all the time. Good luck with surgery!

Bruce My Friend, hope your wife doesn't mind you dreaming of another woman standing in a red, lacey type dress standing at the end of your bed. Of course, the message she gave you was really good advice. Advice that is good for everyone to practice on a daily basis.

Cathy, your father was a new friend to me, but I could tell what a wonderful man he was. Sally and I were just "commenting" about how we are a small family here at Active Rain, or Ohana as they say in the Islands, and your father in his short time in the Rain, found his place quickly in our family.

Linda, As I said on Sally's post, I feel like I got punched in the gut, I had no idea. I'm so sorry for your loss. Yours was the fairy tale, I loved your love story, we don't get to find a special love like that often. My heart aches with yours....

To Bruce's family; you are in our hearts and prayers. May you find comfort in knowing that Bruce was loved, admired and respected by so many. Just reading these comments fills my heart with admiration for him and you all. What a wonderful imprint he left upon this earth and knowing he is just a veil away is the most wonderful blessing of all, knowing one day you will all be together again! God Bless You! Katerina

To Bruce's family:

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

I think that Bruce's last post was a fitting measure of the type of man he really was. His perspective and insight never changed to reflect his challege from his first post to his las. I never met him, or even talked to him on Active Rain, but someone I know had informed me of his passing. I lost my father to esophageal cancer 5 years ago, and I am sorry for your loss.

On very few occasions in your lifetime do you ever get an opportunity to know great people. In many instances you may only have a passing relationship via a handshake or as in Bruce's case those he touch here on his blog. I am not surprised to read everyone's comments about their relationship with Bruce and how he touched their hearts, even via a computer monitor. Everyone speaks of a great man, and for those who may have never met him or knew him personally you must know none of you were misled. Bruce was truly one in a billion. I was fortunate to have Bruce as a mentor and personal friend. He was a great motivator and while deserving or not made me feel worthy. He was able to push you in such a way that you did not want to let him down. He lived a hard life but that never changed his spirit. He never let up or was one to sugarcoat, he told you how it was, but made sure you believed in yourself and that anything was possible. He taught me the value of being a good manager, a task I'm still working hard at. He taught me the importance of being professional. He had stories for every situation. He taught me a lesson in puncuality and the consequences, and to this day if ever I am late to an appointment I can hear him in the back of my mind say "that'll be ten bucks you little $#@!". He was my manager, my boss, my mentor but most importantly my friend. While I am extremely saddend by his passing, I can not help but feel joy for actually knowing him and having him while we did. Bruce was truly a great man and will be missed.

Linda, Thank you and Bruce for sharing so much on this blog. I am sorry I am just now reading it. You have the thoughts and prayers of my family.

Aloha Bruce. Thank you for your friendship. I remember when we met in Irvine CA at AHM training prior to being transfered back to the islands; I knew that we would be working to gether for years to come.

I can not express how fortunate I am to have shared an office with you and have been able to listen to your no nonsense approach to this mortgage business and to doing what was best for your clients not just your own. You were passionate about helping each and every soldier; your sense of purpose was contageous and you never hesitated to help me even though we were technically competitors.

Thank you for being a SOLID role model and recently introducing me to Active Rain where I can see how much you have impacted others just like me and God Bless you up there.

You are the type of guy that will never leave your wife and I know that you will be with her always. I will look for you when its my time...

Bye for now Sir!

I have learned that blogging is a way to leave a diary of everyday happenings of life here on earth.

Linda,

I was not around in the AR community a year ago.  I am here now and I wish the family of Bruce Bourgault peace through this anniversary of the loss of this fine gentleman.

God Bless.
