Thoughts for the People of Joplin, Missouri
Now is the time for our lawmakers to set politics and ideology aside...the people of Joplin need our help. Eric Cantor...FAIL. The redcross is a good way to help also. Give whatever you can. Please stop by Karen's Blog and Leaveher a comment
Just watching Anderson Cooper and CNN's video of the tornado-ravaged town of Joplin, Missouri - such devastation. Simply heart-breaking to see the pictures and to hear of the losses (reporting 116 people killed). The stories of heroics in search and rescue efforts are amazing, as are the accounts of events during the tornado strikes.
Just gut-wrenching to hear, however, that tonight and tomorrow are expected to see further tornadoes in the area - by some accounts expected to be larger than the ones seen on Sunday/Monday. As if the mile wide/four mile long swath of devastation and the loss of life and injuries was not tragic enough.
Local agencies, such as the Red Cross and Salvation Army are providing aid - please visit these links if you can help out or provide support in any way. 1.800.RED.CROSS www.redcross.org
