That is the definition of Gourmet in Wikipedia. And that is my reaction after having a fine meal at Peppercorn's. Located at 455 Park Ave in Worcester, Peppercorn's is very close to my work and I have passed the big red sign numerous times. So when my husband asked me to pick a place for our ";date";, I remembered all the good feedback I heard about the restaurant.
The Dining room was dimly lit for my taste, or perhaps we finally got a sunny day so my eyes had to adjust a bit. It was decorated on a modern side with multi colored, tubular light fixtures on the ceiling. The restaurant has an extensive wine list and the menu list was quite long as well.
I checked out the appetizer choices and every thing sounded good. The prices were reasonable as entrees ran under $20.00. The waitress offered us to try the ";hand of Chef";. This is where the chef decides what you're going to eat. We thought it was adventurous and chose 2 of ";Hand of Chef";, priced at $15.95 or so, we thought it might be an interesting choice. And it was. We got Sword fish with a greap fruit glaze with arugula salad and a portabella mushroom stuffed with sausage and peppers under melted cheese. It was delicious and adventuresome.
When it came to desert, I could not make up my mind: I like the red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, which was huge or the chocolate ganache cake with an Orio crust. So I decided to let my waitress guide us and surprise us. She brought out the Ganache with a vanilla ice cream on the side. The meal was superb and I definitely recommend this as one of your 365 things to do in Worcester County - Treat your date to Peppercorn's in Worcester.
