Why is it so hard to keep my house cool? THE LIGHTS, REALLY!
I am doing my late night reblogging and this one caught my eye as something informative and detailed. I thought I learned from in and it was one that applies to anyone who turns on a light switch...
Why is it so hard to keep my house cool, is what my client asked me the other day.
After about 5 minutes of scanning the home with my infrared camera, I knew exactly what was a major contributor to the home's heat. THE LIGHTS!
Many people don't realize just how much heat their light-bulbs are emitting. Incadescent lightbulbs are very cheap and very tempting to buy especially when compared to the price of LED lights.
Buying incadesent bulbs offers a savings at the register but you can rest assured they are robbing you at home.
Take a look at the heat this home owners bulbs are emitting.
OVER 400 DEGREES FROM 1 BULB!
THINK ABOUT TWELVE 400+ DEGREE BULBS IN JUST ONE ROOM
THAT'S A TOTAL OF 4800 DEGREES!!!
LET'S LOOK AT SOME OF THE OTHER BULBS
325 DEGREES & 371 DEGREES X 4 BULBS! THAT'S NEARLY 1500 DEGREES FROM ONE LIGHT FIXTURE
140 DEGREES X 7 BULBS = NEARLY 1000 DEGREES
LOOK AT THE HEAT RADIATING UP THE WALL FROM FOUR 320+ DEGREE BULBS
AN ELECTRIC HEATER TURNED UP TO FULL HOT IS ONLY PUTTING OFF APROX. 355 DEGREES
GET THE POINT?
INCANDESCENT BULB IS 436 DEGREES LED BULB IS ONLY 133 DEGREES
THE DIFFERENCE IN THE INCANDESCENT BULB AND A LED IS THE HEAT OUTPUT OF A SMALL SPACE HEATER! WOW!
