There Will Be No Garden on Our Homestead This Year....

Real Estate Agent with Sabinske & Associates, Inc. (Albertville, St. Michael)

The rains last weekend were amazing.  We had five inches in less than two days.  Everything in the garden, the peony, hyacinths, tulips, everything is under water.  And, I have raised beds.

It would take several weeks for that clay soil to dry out enough to plant corn, beans, onion sets, radishes (which it is too late for now anyway.)  I have some pots for tomato plants, but the critter formerly known as my dog is a tomato thief.

He is only deterred by barbed wire from getting to those juices additions to his mainly tasteless canine food.  Mesquite flavored dog food, my ass.  He doesn't keep in his mouth long enough to taste it anyway.

The down side of not having a garden besides not having the produce is that I still have to weed it eventually.  Bummer on all sides.

Don't feel sorry for me...just send me some home-grown carrots, corn, potatoes and beans....thanks!

Sorry to hear you won't have a garden.  Perhaps you can get one of those upside down tomato planters, and hang it where the dog can't reach the goodies.

I've never heard of a dog that loved tomotoes so much. On another note, look at the good side, you got rain but no tornados.

I saw the pictures of that perpertrator of pilfering produce last year here on the Rain.  He might look adorable, but I hear he is sneaky and doesn't care whether they are early girls, cherry, or big boys.

Sorry to hear about your garden.

I was out there weeding today. The difference is...I'll be eating tomatoes for my effort ;-)

A tomato eating dog...must be Italian.

Bringing you home...

Geesh. What a puddle! I guess that is an upside to sand... though after the five inches of rain I had to dig out the sprinkler the next day. :( Garden is in - just a lot of work amongst sandburs. Love the gardens and I'm sorry yours was taken away.

Ok.. will it ship well... Is there an active Farmers Market in your area?

I would ship but would be afraid that it would not be  in good shape when it got there.
