OK, waves of maroon are beautiful this time of year

The sea of maroon

As we drive through many parts of Washington County right now your eyes are taken over with the sea of maroon with fields and fields of flowers. A beautiful sight for sure, but there is one problem, what are they? A lot of times there are signs along the road saying what a flower is, but for some reason, not on these and despite spending hours online trying to figure it out, I am still at a loss to what kind of flower they are. This leaves me to relax, take my allergy medicine and just sit back and enjoy the view and say “Who cares what kind of flower they are, they are just beautiful, that is all that matters”

I'll check back and see if anyone knows. I don't, but I enjoy growth in the fields, but planted and wild. Even Scotchbroom can look pretty.

Todd - Those are certainly beautiful and unusual blossoms.  I tried Googling "maroon flower" images to see if we could identify them.  Alas, I found none that looked quite like those in your photo.
