Memorial Day in Brigantine - Billy The Kid, Beach, Birthdays ....and oh yeah, blogging.....
One of my dearest friends was kind enough to invite me to Brigantine for Memorial Day weekend. She wanted to help me celebrate my 50th birthday that just passed last week, too. We were lucky to see each other last fall for her 50th birthday so it kind of felt like one of those 'circle-of-life' moments.
This is Billy The Kid's first time at the Jersey Shore, as far as I know. Having a rescue dog does leave unaswered questions, sometimes. For instance, I really do wonder if he's ever seen the ocean. I'd also like to know if he's ever been swimming. I'd really like to know who his previous master was and how/why in the world did Billy lose his first home?
Oh well, life is full of mysteries, isn't it?
I can tell you that Billy liked the beach. At the very end of the boardwalk here in Brigantine, there is a section of beach that allows doggies. Billy ran into several other four-legged 'cousins' while he was there. He seemed intrigued by the other small dogs, but the big black lab was not on his dance card. Billy stayed as far away from him as he could.
Billy collected seashells.
This one, to the left, is an oyster shell. Billy really seemed interested in it....more so than the others that he found.
He was actually pretty good at gathering shells!
Billy found a real treasure, too!
A Mermaid's Purse!!
I'm pretty sure this is the first Mermaid's Purse that Billy's ever seen......how about you? Do you know what is inside this beauty?
And Billy made a new best friend.......Beryl!
Beryl and I have been friends since Kindergarten, having gone through Brownies, Junior Girl Scouts, Cadettes and sixth through twelth grades. I can understand why Billy warmed up to her rather quickly.
Being pretty skittish, he doesn't take to most folks so fast.
Of course, the fact that Beryl keeps peanut butter doggie treats in her kitchen may have given her an edge!
Today - a quick blog while sitting on the deck, overlooking the ocean. It's day 29 of the May challenge. This post is definitely one of the most enjoyable ones for me. It's so beautiful in Brigantine today.....I'm not sure that Billy The Kid will want to go home tomorrow.
Good thing Beryl has a solid supply of those dog bones, huh?!
