They will –IF- they want to sell their home!
We listed the property as a short sale after the owners realized they were no longer able to continue to make the payments due to a job loss. As time went on, the utilities were turned off because they were unable to bear that expense.
We received an offer, the sellers accept, as does the bank. The appraisal comes in and an inspection will need to be done. The buyer’s agent expects the sellers to turn on the utilities and exclaims, “Well, -IF- they want to sell their home, they will agree!”
I quietly said, “They are losing their home, their credit is ruined, they’ve had to relocate and you are saying –IF- they WANT to SELL IT?!” “They-have-no-choice as it is a short sale and your clients are getting an amazing home at a better than good price.”
“-IF- they had their choice, they wouldn’t be in this position!”
I offered to turn the utilities on in order to move forward.
Heartless is the best way I know how to describe that agent's comment.
