Alright, we have all had a strange listing here and there. Some even stick in our memories but this one was over the top for me. I list a lot Amish homes so when I was called to list a log home up near Marion it cam as no surprise. When I got there we chatted about the house and barn and unique property. It has a couple of ponds and the deer have taken up residence in the back hay field. We walked out into the main pasture to check out his 6 legged steer. Nope...I wasn't drinking. Once we made our way back to the rear of the pasture I heard something coming up behind and it sounded huge. Not to appear to scared I casually looked over my shoulder to find a herd of camels coming to check us out. OK, if six legged steers aren't enough, a herd of camels has to be a first for most. Turns out the steers are four legged but have "extra" hooves on their rear legs. So they are more of a 6 hoofed steer, but still unique. Once I came to grips the camels weren't going to dine on me, we made our way back to the barn. Not sure why it surprised me when the Peacocks started shrieking, but it did. OK, now if 6 hoofed steers, a herd of camels and peacocks aren't enough when I rounded the cabin during pictures I ran across.....yup, kangaroos. I officially have seen it all. The home is gorgeous, the land is stunning and I look forward to seeing the expressions of faces as I show it. Enjoy your Memorial Day as I remember this listing and thanks for reading..
I just helped a friend buy a property, and though it was not in the contract, they told him they were leaving the goats. Not the horses, just the goats. He was surprised...but surprisingly OK with that. :)
Did any of these animals "convey"?
Goats? Great little lawn mowers. lol. Not sure if any of the critters will go with. They weren't part of the list agreement but with the right offer...I was kind of shocked hear a couple of the camels (the ones you can ride) cost around $12K-$15K. each. Yikes. Have a great weekend.
Great story, Randy! You're going to have fun with this one! Very nice property!
Randy - this one had me laughing me as the story unfolded. I can just imagine the look on your face as the tour continued...what next? I would think some pictures of some of these animals will be good keepers for you to sprinkle in somewhere along the journey. Aside from all that, this sounds like a great property.
Hi Randy, WOW is all I can say. Is that all the pictures you have. I want to see the six hoofed steers.
LOL Great post.
Clint
Randy, never a dull moment. MI farms have some unusual animals. The tough part is where to put the camels and kangaroos up for the winter?
Hi Randy, I'm still waiting for the pictures of the "odd" animals.
Hello' is anyone home? LOL
Clint
Randy that sounds like a real adventure. The should charge admission. Kids would love it.
Clint, I will take a few next time I'm there. Never thought about pics until the camel surprised me.
That is a strange listing! I would be looking over my shoulder every time I showed it!
That is amazing. I am an animal lover and would enjoy seeing it and showing the property. Are there horses there too?
Another one for the memory banks Randy LOL! Not sure if that kangaroo is posing or asking what you are doing? Now you have seen everything right?
Randy, you are incredibly lucky to have such a unique property with such an interesting array of residents as a listing! 6-hoofed steers, a herd of camels, peacocks, kangaroos...and a partridge in a pear tree? :)
That's got to be the best listing story ever! $12,000 for a camel??? Wow!
Quite an experience! Thanks for sharing your listing adventure.
Blooming for you!
I resisted listings for a long time because I don't do well with pets of any kind. This appointment would have rendered me a buyer agent for life. ;-)
