Port Orange police department
I received a Citizen Alert e-mail from the Port Orange police department that there is a couple targeting homes in Port Orange, with "For Sale" signs in their yards. Follow the link above, for the description of the couple.

The system they're using is to show up unannounced, claiming that they are interested in buying a home. The male is doing most of the talking. 

Once inside the house, the female will wander off, as if looking at the house. After they leave, sellers are discovering that they are missing their credit cards.

They are claiming to be from Fayetteville, NC, parts of Georgia, and/or opening a business in the area. They have been seen driving a large Ford Crown Victoria or Mercury style vehicle in some type of beige color. Credit cards have been the only items taken, and have been immediately used at the local Wal Mart, Target and convenience stores.

I have just begun receiving these alerts, and will pass them along, if they appear to pose an immediate threat to the people of our area; especially if they are real estate related.

Great post for your community to be aware of!  This is exactly why I tell my sellers to PUT EVERYTHING AWAY... ANYTHING OF VALUE, get it out of the house!  As I Explain, REALTORS have a due diligence to stay with their clients, but thieves are thieves and anything can happen!

I guess this happens everywhere but with homes so difficult to sell homeowners let anyone wander around. There are several lessons here for all of us..agents/Realtors, sellers, FSBOs...thanks.

Yikes, this is horrible.  Thanks for the heads up.  As Gary stated, this could happen anywhere.  I will be sure to tell my clients about this and advise them to keep all valuables in a safe place!
