MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
MONDAY, MAY 30, 2011
Avon Lake's Memorial Day Parade is being sponsored by the American Legion Post 211 and the City of Avon Lake. The Parade will commence in the North drive of the Avon Lake High School. Parade members should assemble at the high school at 9:30 a.m. The parade will move out promptly at 10:00 a.m., as follows:
Proceed North on Avon Belden;
Left onto Electric Boulevard;
Left onto Glenview Drive; and
Left onto Avon Belden Road, going North to Veterans Park on Lake Road.
Those participating in the parade should be dropped off in front of the high school. Parking will be in the South parking lot.
Parade vehicles should enter the North parking lot from Electric Blvd. by the bus garage.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Meet at Old Fire Station at 8:45 a.m.;
Lower flag to half staff at Civic Center;
March from Civic Center to Avon Lake Cemetery;
Lower cemetery flag to half staff;
Place wreath by flagpole;
Commander to give brief speech;
List of deceased veterans will be read;
Chaplain offers prayer;
Color guard (riflemen) march to Lake, fire shots as wreath is thrown in water;
Bugler sounds "Taps;" and
Dismissal - march out of cemetery.
