Memorial day is almost over. Will we remember tomorrow?

It is very sad that so many people have no REAL idea what Memorial Day is about.   The school kids should all know, but even many of them do not.

So the news will plaster all of the good deeds that the Politicians do today and others, but what about tomorrow?

What about a week from today, or a month or even longer.  Men and women gave their lives and some were disfigured for life.  But we only kinda think of them one day a year.  One day a year so that the rest of us can be free.

I wonder what many of them would think if they were in the shoes of our fallen Hero's!

Bill...

We must never forget. I know that their families will not and neither should we.

William - I feel just as you do. Every day I work with men and women of the military (VA Loans) - and many have seen things - been in the midst of battles - saw friends and comrades die - they can NEVER forget. Last week, I talked with the surviving widow of a Navy seal - she remembers. Last night at our church, the mother of a dear friend of ours who was killed over 25 years ago serving in the Marines - she will NEVER forget.

Richard is right - we must NEVER forget.

William - its a shame that many only remember on days such as today. But its worse that there are many out there that don't even think about those who sacrificed even today.

Bill, unfortunately most don't have anything to remember personally and everyone else's heartache does not click with them.

Bill, I think that Vern hit it on the head.  Much of our Nation is younger and have not had this tradgedy in their lives.   It doesn't seam as real as when you have a personal connection.

In the 1940's and 50's almost every family had someone in uniform. There was a clear identifiable threat. These days, there is more separation from the personal side of military life for most and the enemy is murky and hidden.

In our area though, almost everyday is Veterans Day. There is close connection to the service from almost the whole population through work, family or community.
