How I survived the 31 day challenge
It's the last day of the 31 day challenge and I survived. Well.... not only did I survive it, I learned more about blogging and my capabilities and abilities than I had ever hoped and I thank Christina ONeal for issuing the challenge and encouraging me to participate. When I first started I was a relative newbie with 3 blogs under my belt and I thought there was no way I would get through a 31 day blogging challenge. How can I find enough worthwhile subjects to write about every day? What happens when I get busy? How will I ever find the time? As you can see I had a lot of doubt but I picked a few tricks along the way.
I survived this challenge by;
- Reading a lot of blogs and as I read, I got inspiration for subject matters and I immediately wrote down the title I had in mind for future use. I still have another 22 subject I would like to explore.
- When I knew I had a busy day ahead of me, I wrote the blog the day before and saved it to "draft" so the next day I all I needed to do was just change it to either "public" or "members only" and publish. Sometimes if I got inspired I would write 2 or 3 posts as save them.
- I attended Active Rain University and picked up a few trick on how to SEO by blogs properly and insert pictures. I now have 5 blogs on the first page of Google and most of them are in first position below the paid searches and a call from someone who read my blog looking for financing.
- By reading other members' blog, I got to know what is important to the community and what information would be beneficial to at least some of the members. The result is I have one featured post and another that is on Patricia Kennedy's weekly suggested read list.
All in all, what I thought would be in exercise in futility turned out to be a life lesson I'll never forget. I grew in knowledge, in confidence and I can't thank the Active Rain community enough for presenting me with the opportunity. Blogging will now become part of my regular tasks, maybe not every day but certainly on a regular basis.
Here is my challenge to Active Rain; keep challenging us, or as we say in my neck of the woods....bring it.
