After days of rain and cold, the skies cleared and the temperatures soared. I think half the people of Winnetka came out of hibernation to walk, run, bike or drive over to Elm Street to see the Memorial Day Parade, invocation, and speeches at the Village Green.
At about 90 degrees and very muggy I don't think anyone was complaining. Although Winnetka is a sophisticated and modern place to live, it still feels like small-town America on days like this. Regular folks coming out to honor our country's veterans.
