Did not realize that Updates for Windows 7 also meant that IE 9 was considered an update / important.
Actually, the update explained was for the 64 bit only, not the 32 bit IE [8] that is also running presently on this computer.
I have the option of downloading and installing IE 9 for 32 bit, should I decide to do this.
Not being as trusting as perhaps most others are, decided to install & use IE 9 only on the 64bit Internet.
As I see this new 9, most things seem to be working as usual;
the address bar across the very top of the of the screen is quite different; but the actual Windows [opened sites] still appear across the bottom.
The AR site appears to be different, but not disturbingly so;
All the normal options appear to be present. That is all that I must have;
So far; edits work the same; I can utilize the "inset / edit image" icon [could not do so yesterday in the 32 bit.IE.
If this continues as it is now functioning, then it seems to be a "good" change.
NOW, my real point of this post is to ask if any of you are using IE 9:
Do you have any additional kudos for it [other than the minimal ones that I listed thus far]
I do see that IE 9 allows you to "pin" favorite sits to 'drag a favorite web site to the 'taskbar' & it is then a click away;
frankly, I thought that was the purpose of the Windows that cluster around the bottom of this screen & you see what you have open [available if you use tabs for homepages ]
If that is the difference between the two IE 8 & IE 9, then will leave this (9) on the 64 bit IE only.
So far, there is NO available Adobe 10 Flash for the 64 bit, so in order to utilize flash I must open & use the 32 bit.
No biggie.
Since I am not having the "normal-for me" problems after installing a Big program on my computer, I guess that IE 9 is a neat and good item.
However, until I hear from some here in the Rain, that IE 9 is far superior to IE 8, it will remain only on the 64 bit IE [I actually have two icons for IE--& as long as I remember that the Left hand side is the 64 bit--All is Well.
Don't know about putting videos on sites while in IE 9, but will leave that for another time.
Did learn that is is VITAL that I open and read 'about' any "Important Update" before downloading / installing.
One day lately [usually check on & install new updates on Tuesdays--as that is the day they are available]--some time in the last 2 installs, Google Chrome appeared---do not like Chrome---Chrome feels the same about me.
At least, that flashing notice on the lower right hand side has stopped informing me of the latest Important update.
Must state that as I am typing and working within IE 9--the TV in the background is showing House Hunters;
...watching that show is not good for my blood pressure on normal nights;
...it is good for an exercise program normally;
...where DO they find these buyers???;
...Keep them away from our Home / listings;
These two are "nit-pickers" personified; and they want this house for nothing along with all closing costs.
SPARE Me.
[you must pardon me, we have received a "phone offer" --reminding me of the Phone-S__, that is "all talk- no action"
We learned through that call that "This House is not worth more than $________, based upon his vast experience in the field"
REALLY --WHAT FIELD WOULD THAT BE ??? hum
sorry--BAD PHONE EXPERIENCE.
[cannot use the spell check that is normally on the google bar. That is not so good.
Hi all...Well, just opened the 32 bit and Guess what has been installed on this---yep. you guessed it:
IE 9-
-so IF you receive a notice for an important update to Windows--and it is for the 64bit explorer; and it is for IE 9; don't bother choosing to install it only on your 64 bit BECAUSE--if you choose Install it is also installed on your 32 bit--which then means--you are now the proud owner of IE 9 on your entire computer.
Barb
I'm glad you're going through all this because when I get a new computer, you'll be my go-to gal!
Laura...don't hold your breath--this "go to gal" thought that she was updating only the 64 bit, but in reality it is on the computer & it seems to be here to stay. At times, they font is so small that I have to move in closer to the monitor & then the wheels on my chair shoot me backwards--many bad thoughts and a few words spring forth. Not very professional at all.
Must state though that IE 9 looks very pleasant; now if only that is what i wanted on my computer; It is faster & that is good; now I can see the typos as I am typing; perhaps this is the smooth, speedy process [their promo] .
Thanks for your comment. Have a great Friday & weekend.

Barb,
I use IE... for backup when FireFox has the hiccups (not too often) LOL. It's always good to hear how the real IT people work.
Best,
Steve
Steve....maybe that will be the answer for this house; re-install FireFox; did remove it due to a warning that it {FF} was found to be Virus-prone. That was before IE 9 and I do have to admit that IE 9 is much faster,once you get past the differences in appearance of beloved web sites, etc.
Wish that I were an IT-er--for me, this experience with '9' is reminiscent of Algebra the "dreaded Story problems" sometimes there is a glimmer of understanding & interest--but then a "pull-back" because I HATED Algebra & those 'story problems--...if train A leaves the station....'
Sob ! it seems that a trip into "understanding your new IE 9 experience" ALL I want is to use it--not understand it. LOL
Thanks for your comment. Have a great Friday & weekend.
