A day Homer Simpson would love! National Doughnut Day is this Friday 6/3/11!

Both Krispy Kreme & Dunkin' Donuts are offering special promotions to mark the day, at least here in Jacksonville, FL.

Krispy Kreme will have one free doughnut of any variety per person, no purchase required. There are two Krispy Kreme's here in Jacksonville, Florida:

11117 San Jose Boulevard
12973 Atlantic Boulevard

Dunkin' Donuts will also have a free doughnut per person, however, you will have to purchase a beverage (and not one in a bottle either). Dunkin' Donuts has a whopping 44 stores locally, so you can easily find them.

National Doughnut Day was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to help the hungry during the Great Depression and to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during WWI.

Enjoy your free doughnuts - you could even hit mroe than one if you plan accordingly!

Ah - National Donut Day - now there is a day I can sink my teeth into - literally!

I went to a graduation party last weekend. The graduate wanted a 'different' kind of cake her mother said - so instead of cake - they had a huge tower of her favorite donuts! Very fun and unique!

As a world class donut lover (although I try to do my best to manage my cravings!), I was happy to come upon this post. It also brought back memories of my favorite book as a child, which was about a boy who created a donut making machine.

Carol, Krispy Kreme is my favorite donut! Definitely would love a free one if I'm nearby on June 3, especially if they're hot :) Would not go out of my way or even stop for Dunkin Donut - no comparison IMO.
