Fall is a great time of year with all of the festivals, apple picking, pumpkins and Haunted Houses. Halloween is just around the corner so if you are within driving distance of Lynchburg, Virginia you should make plans to come to Scaremare. This is a local institution - located at 2300 Carroll Ave, in an old creepy, claustrophobic building! You never know what's going to come out of the woods- what might grab at your ankles! If you LIKE being scared, Check out www.scaremare.com for admission cost, dates of operation.

An outreach ministry of Liberty University, http://www.libertyu.com/index.cfm?PID=12407  this is a perfect event for your youth group. Thousands of people attend every year; be aware that there are long lines but it's well worth the wait.

I loved your description of the building "claustrophobic".....just made me laugh and curious at the same time.

You leave me with the question, "Do I like being scarred?"    Yes, if very quickly it I feel secure again.  No, if it lasts too long.  One second is plenty...

LOL! They narrow the hallway by putting black fabric up and it really makes me uncomfortable....just what you want when you're going through a haunted house! Thanks for stopping by!

Robert.....I don't know what it is, maybe too many horror movies as a kid....but I love the anticipation, you know something is going to come at you, but it is in a safe environment so I know the chainsaw isn't REALLY going to hurt me.....odd, huh? Thanks for commenting!

Debbie, we don't have scaremare, but we sure do have Halloween functions all over the place.  However, even with parental involvement I notice the number of Trick or Treaters at my door is dwindling - I suspect they are attending the public functions which are safer, Karen

Us too Karen. So many churches here have alternative events for the kids and a lot of fundraising organizations do too. I still like the Marines Toys For Tots program- price of admission is a new, unwrapped toy. Thanks for your thoughts!
