Designing a Bathroom Considering Key Elements for Functionality and Price

A feeling of tranquility is one of those elusive concepts: To escape the daily stress of life challenges that overpower our physical and emotional state of mind. The comfort of a space is not only contingent on the luxuries that indulge the body, but also ease the mind. Organization is vital, and clever storage creates a soothing space. Achieving a sense of comfort through the design of a space means different things to different people. Although, most will agree that when it comes to the bathroom space, it needs to be a peaceful retreat. People are searching for a flexible design that incorporates their wants and personal style.

LAYOUT

The aspects of use will directly influence the space plan and product selection. First consider whether or not the bathroom will be shared, then think about the needs of the individual users. Who needs what, such as appliance connections, sink size, and work surface space? If the soaking tub is an occasional experience and the shower is a daily ritual, then their locations may be very non- traditional in order to reduce the amount of space in the room. It is also important to think about how much privacy should be dedicated in the toileting area. When considering space requirements, think about whether there needs to be total or semi-visual privacy in this area.

STYLE

Today's bathroom trend moves us to a more contemporary look and away from traditional. Modern lines, sharp edges and simple detailing are all part of this transitional look. Even though people lean toward traditional style, we are seeing more of a modern, contemporary streak come through. However there is not one style that is greatly favored over another. Because our lifestyles are becoming more busy and stressful, we feel the need to transform bathroom spaces into our "home spa" in hopes of seeking relaxation- a place where we can decompress and start the day off fresh.

VANITY FAIR

Today's options are endless when deciding on cabinetry. Everything is so ala carte that things become blended together- sort of like a melting pot. Ditch the old standard cabinet style. Custom looking styles that have creative design features to maximize storage are the way to go instead. Vanity design styles are simple and straightforward, with little ornamentation and clean lines. The colors are the same. You don't usually see natural or medium tone woods. If the vanity is stained, it's a darker stain. The colors are definitely more in the brown tones, such as espresso or onyx. However cream-colored painted finishes with a darker glaze to highlight moldings are still popular. This trend allows more play with color.

SHOWER ELEMENTS

When we step inside the shower, we should think about what we want at our fingertips. Today's showers often have showerheads and handhelds. Although the jury is still out on body sprays. Either clients want them or they don't. Shower niches and benches are very popular in current shower design. Because nobody has time to take a relaxing bubble bath, the focus has shifted to putting all the bells and whistles in the shower. However, there are those still attracted to the freestanding tubs. Especially air tubs, for those that want a more spa-oriented environment.

Now, with all the information and options on today's market, the question always remains the same- "What will it cost to update or remodel my bathroom?" Master Baths have the largest variable in cost and design. The average master bath remodel could range in price from $30,000 to $38,000. If you want to take the plunge to include every amenity, plan to spend $45,000 up to $60,000 for the complete package. Yes, this may equal the price of a new car, but the investment adds considerable value to your home and you're not likely to remodel more than once. However, if you just want to make some minor changes like freshen up the master bath, figure approximately $20,000. If there are additional full baths in the house (also known as Kid's bath or Hall bath), costs will vary between $8,000- $14,000 depending on what you want to accomplish. Powder rooms or half baths will range from $4,000-$8,000. Please visit our on line portofolio to see diffrents projects www.njwconstruction.com
