There are a few words in the English language that give you a visual once they're said.  Words like hot, out, fire etc.

I learned several years ago that "toothpaste" isn't one of those words.

I listed a house of a young couple that had lots of posters and pictures on the walls - held on by nails.

As part of my listing presentation, I was encouraging them to "depersonalize" their home in our attempt to market the property.

The husband was concerned about removing the posters and having buyers see the holes that would be left after the nails were removed.  I said "don't worry about it, just fill in the holes with toothpaste."

He called me the next day to ask me if I was sure about the toothpaste thing.  I asked him why?

His comment was that he couldn't see the benefit of removing all the nails to just replace them with blue spots all over the walls.

When did toothpaste quit being white?

Larry... all this guy was doing is following your instructions.  LOL.  And as far as everyone knowing what you're talking about... there are many times when even I don't know what I'm talking about.

I wouldn't be happy if I bought a house that had a ton of nail holes filled with toothpaste. Why wouldn't they fill them properly? Isn't putty white?

Larry - this is HILARIOUS - and because I have children (and grandchildren) I have learned the importance of being very SPECIFIC with my instructions - you would be amazed as to how we have MIS-communicated in the past!

Funny!  Thanks for sharing.
