56 Comments on ActiveRain Video Tutorial- How To Add An Image To Your ActiveRain Blog
OK, my next tutorial will be on embedding YouTube videos on your blogs.
You have to have your video in the cloud somewhere in order to embed it on your blog unless you own a video player and you embed the video player. You don't need to go through all of that because as agents you want your videos on YouTube for getting more traffic. Katerina
Katerina,
Thanks for the tutorial!
I am now inspired to write more blogs, especially since I got a new laptop with Window 7. My old one was running on Vista which was not compatible & did not allow me to post ANY picture on the Active Rain blogs.
Aloha!
Hi Katerina,
I've never used Firefox, been afraid to try, so I tried it anyway, thanks to your Blog, because I was determined to get my business card and QR code images in my signature (that Internet Explorer wouldn't let me do). And it worked. And, using Firefox was no sweat - I feel brave
Derk- You should only use IE for getting on the mls. We no longer use any windows programs because our mls now has a mock program for our mls so we can use it with Firefox on our Macs. But I like Safari and Chrome the best. They each have their place and purpose. Firefox is much safer to use than iE. IE has so many hackers - that to me is scary. Katerina
Woody- Nestor Loves the Show Me state license plate, I think I hear him use that saying every day! Katerina
Katerina - you saw my cry for help...? This is exactly what many of us need right now - thank you.
Incidentally, the negative responses you received to your earlier blog takes me back to the teacher's admonition: "kids, there are no stupid questions"! Congratulations! You have absolutely proven the teacher right. Great job.
Katerina - great tutorial for us newbies. I have learned the hard way that Firefox is much better than IE.
I just wish our MLS would become Firefox compliant.
I already knew all of this, but for some reason I always forget to enter a title for the image! Thanks for doing this great reminder, I'm bookmarking it for future reference.
Side note: why on Earth would you get negative comments for simply asking a question so you could learn? I know it was back in the Wild West days of AR, but geez!
When uploading images, I suggest that you bear this in mind, from the Active Rain terms of service:
You agree that you are solely responsible for all Content that you make available on the Site. You also represent and warrant to ActiveRain that you own all rights and have unlimited control of your Content, which makes it possible and legal for you to share and transmit your Content. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, you agree that you will not post Content to the Site that is copyrighted by someone other than you, without the express, written permission of the copyright holder. You agree that your Content, once posted on the Site, is non-confidential.
In the US, the creator of the image owns the copyright from the instant the image is created, unless he or she actively transfers the copyright, which I believe requires a written agreement. This does not require registration of the copyright, and a copyright holder can pursue and obtain monetary compensation from misuse of his or her copyrighted material without having registered the copyright. However, if the copyright holder has registered the copyright, he or she may pursue a lawsuit for misuse. I would be willing to bet the usage of a very large number of images on the Active Rain site violates copyright.

David- That is the subject for another post. Lenn Harley has over 50 posts about copyright issues. I know about the copyright law in the U.S and I abide by them. All clipart that I use I pay for from a site that allows commercial use of their images. Thank you for sharing although it is outside of the scope of this video tutorial. The idea for my tutorials is to make them very short and to the point. Make them easy to understand and something that someone can do within just a few minutes. If you noticed in my video I was choosing images from my hard drive on my computer which I assume to be photos that I have taken or clip art that I own or had permission to download to my hard drive. Katerina
Videos are so great, especially for visual learners, your post are always packed with information, so nice to give back! All the best.
Thanks for the thorough video. Great job.
THANKS for taking the time to post the video! I was like you....self taught thru trial & many errors! This has to be a BIG help to so many newer bloggers!!
Would love to see a more advanced version......different type size/fonts etc. I have not yet figured those out!!
Thank you so much for posting this video! I am a newbie and could use every bit of info I can get. Great job!
thank you very much for the great tutorial video, it was very helpful to actually see it being done.
Katerina,
