The MS Gulf Coast often reminds me of Jurassic Park clips because of the abundant and varied bird population. Note the birds in the distance on the photo below.

This was one of my favorite piers to walk. Post Katrina, a fishing pier is not priority. We all learn to make do as the coast rebuilds. There are plenty of other places to walk.

Rebuilding the Harbor Facilities has been slow, fortunately the boat docking facilities are being rebuilt faster than the piers. It is my understanding that there is a 2 year waiting list to dock boats at Long Beach Harbor.

If you visit LBHarbor, most likely you'll run into this fisherman. Please do not let the condition of the parking lot disturb you. It is on the to be rebuilt list. We'll get around to it, but some other projects have priority. Its still sobering to imagine a storm so powerful that it could leave wave imprints on a parking lot. But, hey--Katrina is history. We're ready to greet the future. The condition of the parking lot doesn't seem to have an effect on regular visiting locals.

Speaking of the future--it looks like Long Beach, Hwy 90 will soon be the fast food capital of the coast. The long awaited return of the Waffle House should happen any day now, with Burger King nipping at the heels of Waffle House. I haven't heard anything so far about the Golden Arch return yet. However, the other day the City Planning office told me in that the restaurants that were in the Harbor will be returning. It sounds like the expectation is around a year off.

PS: After I started submitting photos and postings to Localism I discovered through private mail that some prior residents visit localism because they are homesick. If there is anything other area any of you would like photographed, please contact me. You do not need to have intentions to buy or sell real estate to get my attention.
