Paying It Forward: Sometimes It's The Little Bits That Add Up!
Each week we try to find something "blogworthy" for the Pay It Forward group. Some weeks it's easy, a pint of blood given, some work at our church for Habitat for Humanity, another donation to a worthy charity.
Other weeks, it's an accumulation of the little bits that individually don't seem like much to us, but each little bit act might have a big impact on the recipient, either by that act itself, or by our act adding up in conjunction with so many others.
For instance, when we go through the McDonalds drive through line to get some tea and chicken strips, we like to drop our extra change in the Ronald McDonald House collection box. Now 35 cents here and 52 cents there individually doesn't make a whole lot of difference, but combine those little bits with all the other customers doing the same and you've got a great charity being supported with substantial amounts of "spare change".
And we take the same approach with other fundraisers outside the grocery stores. Maybe give the Girl Scouts a buck or two extra when they're selling cookies. Straight profit for them rather than whatever share they get for selling a box.
So keep doing the little bits in addition to the big bits, because Paying It Forward DOES make a difference!
A quote from our friend in North Carolina that captures the spirit and intent of these posts:
"I do not share my stories of paying it forward for recognition. I share them so that others might be inspired to do what they can, when they can, where they can. No more, no less." Tish Lloyd, North Carolina REALTOR®
