Speechless Sunday - Seal At La Jolla Childrens Pool
Eighty years ago, Ellen Browning Scripps, La Jolla philanthropist, had a sea wall built at Casa Beach to provide protection from the waves so children could swim at this location. Since then, local Harbor Seals have really taken to this premier piece of La Jolla real estate and every season have their babies here. The seals are a tourist (and locals) favorite and to protect them during pupping season there is a barrier rope put up so people can't come to close to the seals and their vulnerable pups. This season's rope was just removed yesterday.
Here is a photo I took last fall, only one seal playing in the water at La Jolla Cove but I really liked the sun on the water effect. Even though I have lived here for years the natural beauty of the region still awes me!
