Sunriver Real Estate is sometimes on the outdated side. The resort was founded in 1968 and homes were built sold, resold and enjoyed by all. Now some of them are aging and who wants to say a home needs updating? Well now it's not outdated it is vintage, that is the newest saying with real estate Central Oregon.

When you walk into a home for a listing appointment it is often difficult to tell someone their home is outdated. Outdated sounds bad, vintage, well that tells the seller that it is old, outdated and only loved by those that love old things.

Vintage homes are where you find the bargains in Sunriver. Typically the furnishings of a vintage home are just as old as the home, and so are the appliances. Sometimes it is a challenge to find a home for the furnishings after you have inherited them through the sale or your new home.

There are several agencies in Central Oregon that will gladly take these furnishings off your hands. Many of them will give you a receipt stating a value for tax purposes. Some of the agencies I have suggested my clients call for disposal of these furniture are;

COBRA Central Oregon Battery & Rape Alliance

Human Society Thrift Store

St. Vincent DePaul

Habitat for Humanity

2nd Tern - benefits the Sunriver Nature Center

"classic" is another good word!  We do use "vintage" a lot too.  The Realtor gets the picture and the Seller has feelings left intact.  Your photo isn't too bad though.  I have seen lots of 70s and 80s vintage.  That looks like 90s!  "Tired" is also a good word, as you get the message, but it isn't necessarily super negative.

Hi Theresa,
"Shabby chic" is another term I have heard, not sure that all clients would go for that though.  We do have to make sure we take precautions to preserve our clients ego.  :0).  Are you near Newport?  The reason I ask is my uncle (favorite) is town manager there.  They moved there 2 years ago from east coast and think it is wonderful there.

What ever you call it, it is great to have donation centers close by. I remember when they use to come to the house and pick up items. My experience lately has been you have to take all items to the drop off location.

I think it is charming - vintage.  Here's another one: Seasoned, like a Seasoned Citizen is 'mature' not old.

Thesa,

People can get defensive when we criticize their home.  I like your creative use of words.  Do you use a printed list of donation places or just mention it by name?
