A recent poll on "RE/MAX MainStreet", which is data collected from RE/MAX agents from around the globe, suggest that the buying public wants something different than your "Fathers Real Estate". By this I mean the way they expect to find and purchase homes.

How much of your business comes from open houses?

None   51.31 %
Less than 25%   40.07 %

For one, I have long said that "Open Houses" where "Archaic" and as out dated as the fax machine. In my seven years as a Realtor, I have actually sold one house from an open house. I would rather put my time and effort into what the buyers having telling us all along. They want to research & view homes in private. They don't want the sales person following them around telling them what they want.

Now of course every market is different and we all know that there is always exceptions to every rule; However, as a general rule buyers want to find the home and contact their agent of choice or contact an agent at that time.

Internet savvy agents all around the globe have understood this for some time now, so why do we hold on to the past like things have not and are not changing?
