Joan that is terrific news, if only others would learn from New Hampshire.  I hope you will have more people making the move, which in turn will increase home sale.

Jennifer ~  New Hamphire may be a small state, but it is a beautiful state.  I hope you are able to come to visit.  I love all the localism posts you do about the areas you cover, I think folks aren't aware of the beatiful cities in NY.

Syliva ~ The 4 seasons are certainly one of the many reasons that people like to move to NH.  It does have so much to offer.  Of course, many people spend a little time in your neck of the woods when they have had snow up to their eye balls.  LOL.

Should I admit that I've never been out of the State of California? Not even to Mexico, and Tijuana is just 15 miles away!

Eric -- I understand.  I have spent a good part of my life in California... and I left my heart in San Francisco, but if I had to live in another state, NH is a good one to move to.

Joan, I was wondering exactly what Jim Frimmer wrote in comment #8...thanks for answering his question and it makes sense that transfer taxes and property taxes are higher to make up for having no sales tax and income tax.

Anyway, it's great news for you that New Hampshire was named the "most livable state" for 6 years now! :)

Hi Joan, the tax situation alone makes your locale wonderful. We pay around 45% personal income tax where we are.

I lived in Maine so I've been to New Hampshire many times.  It is a gorgeous place and the added perks of no income or sales taxes adds to its beauty as a place to call home.

Leilani ~  While the property taxes are higher than some states, the overall cost of living is lower e.g. MA or CA.

Michelle ~  I guess one has to look at the entire picture such as the over all cost of living and quality of life.

Laura ~  Now you have gotten me wondering .. I don't recall which states were 1 and 2  healthiest states... I'll have to look this up.  I think they were on the east coast.

Norma ~  I love visiting Maine!  It is a beautiful state.  I especially love the coast.

Debe ~ You are very welcome!

Jane ~  The fall is a great time of year to visit.  The foilage is awesome.  Hope you can make it.
