Close to nature in Kentlands

I enjoy early morning walks through Kentlands and Lakelands in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  On Friday morning, I got a surprise view of this deer in a small wooded area in Kentlands.  Always have your camera in hand to capture those special moments.  Life is good in Maryland!

If you have photographs from your special places, please share them in the comments for this post.

Roy, your deer picture turned out GREAT.  I tried taking a deer picture this weekend.

You have to stare at the picture really hard to see it in the driveway.   Deer in a driveway in Manitou Springs,CO

Roy - from our little summer hideaway....

NO NUTS FOR ME

No Nuts For me

A squirell I may be

But I don't live in a tree

While some of my neighbours

like to hand feed me

Peanuts you see

it's no nuts for me

as some of my little human friends.

would then be allergic to me.

We have a lot of these cute little chipmunks around our summer hideaway that our neighbours love to hand feed peanuts. This is a real concern to us as we have highly allergic grandchildren who have severe life threatening reactions to peanuts.

Good to hear from you, Sondra.  That is quite a building the background of your deer picture.  Yes, I also find it difficult to get close ups of deer. This one stayed in place where it was bedded down.  I actually took a couple of shots and notice that my flash was causing red eye. I took the shot I used without a flash to avoid the red eye.

For me, flowers are easier to photograph. The don't tend to run away.

 Life is good!

Thanks, Kathy, for sharing your chipmunk picture.  The chipmunks in our yard like to raid the bird feeder.

Just before taking the picture of the deer, I got this shot of another furry friend in Kentlands.

The deer doesn't seem to be startled at all by you or your camera. Wow!!

Hi Joni:  I, too, was surprised that the deer did not get up and run when I was taking the pictures. It was still there when I left.

 Blooming for you!

Hi Judi:  Thanks for sharing your photograph. You have a different kind of deer. I like to receive photographs in the comments. Some of us are better with pictures than with words.

 Blooming for you!

Thanks for your comments. Things are hopping in Kentlands as the spring real estate market heats up.  Home buyers are anxious to take advantage of the very low mortgage interest rates.

Roy that is a great shot.  I also like the rabbit.  Kristine, I think that photo is a donkey, not a deer.  Could be me...

What a great deer photo and I love all of the others in the comments. We see deer frequently in our neighborhood but I never seem to have the right camera at the time.

Thanks for your comments, Tony, Darcy and Linda.  My primary focus is flower pictures but I will take the pictures when other opportunities present themselves along the way.  It is fun to capture a wildlife picture now and then.

 Life is good!
